Valheim the rules. Exploring is fun, building is fun, flying trolls around the islands while crying softly while you tap dance on the knife edge of death is fun. But nothing is perfect, especially early access games. So, I don’t think we need to be wrong here: Valheimthe stock sucks. Praise Odin for the modders.

Although the incredibly popular the survival game mod scene is very, very young, the modders have been pig crazy with quality of life improvements. This is good because Valheimthe stock of, especially, is restricted and spoiled. Part of this – its small size in particular – is deliberate, encouraging players to get together on a community basis and work together to build items like carts to transport more supplies.

But other elements just don’t make sense. The armor, for example, remains in your inventory even when equipped, taking up precious space and forcing you to stop and drop resources in the forest every five minutes to compensate. And you must rule, because you can’t just destroy items you don’t need. This is also a pain: let’s say you are back at your base and realize that you have some superfluous resources or equipment. You mess up your group’s chests with them, move away from your base and throw the items on the floor or annoy everyone by throwing items on the floor of your base (this is me).

Fortunately, some inventory mods can alleviate all of these problems. First, there the “Equipment and fast slots” mod by RandyKnapp. It gives equipped items their own separate inventory segment and also provides some additional hotkey slots – useful for potions and the like. If you’re still running out of space (and you’re going), then the “Discard stock items” mod by Aedenthorn is probably your best bet. It allows you to select items and delete them permanently. Be warned: it means they will disappear forever, so choose wisely.

If you want to go a little further than the intended game limits, there are also the “MoreSlots” mod by Fang86. It gives you more inventory slots, with the proviso that “you do no losing items in death. “This is a bit of a cheat, so you can object to that if you’re trying to play pure. If you just want to bring your confused architectural dreams for life, though – the rest of the game be damned – so knock it out.

I just scratched the surface of the ones already available Valheim modifications. If you want more general improvements in quality of life, The “Valheim Plus ”mod by NX_ is a must. It improves construction and allows players to adjust the statistics. If you are looking for something a little less practical, you can also the first person mod by Kailen_ for a round. Finally, you can see the horrible faces of Greydwarves (and his crowded inventory) up close.
