Sony’s MLB The Show 21 will launch in April on Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well.

The official PlayStation blog post reveals that MLB The Show 21 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S on April 20, 2021. A PC version was not mentioned. The debut trailer is below:

MLB The Show is the longtime PlayStation exclusive franchise developed by Sony’s San Diego Studio.

In December 2019, Sony and MLB announced a “multiplatform video game partnership” to take the franchise to “additional console platforms beyond the PlayStation as early as 2021”.

Now we know it’s coming to the Xbox too.

“This is a very exciting time for all of us, as the historic franchise will be accessible to more players than ever before,” said Ramone Russell, game designer and online community manager at San Diego Studio.

“We would like to thank everyone at PlayStation, Xbox, Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association and San Diego Studio for working diligently to bring MLB The Show to more users.”

MLB The Show 21 also offers multiplatform online play, with cross-progression allowing you to pick up any console and pick up where you left off.

It’s a landmark moment for Sony, whose PlayStation Studios network of original games launched games like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture on the PC, but has yet to publish its games on the Xbox.

The boxart for the Xbox One version of MLB The Show 21 was leaked online over the weekend via Instagram user ANerdyDad, and shows the PlayStation Studios logo on the Xbox box, which is not something we’ve seen before.
