Mitchell Robinson injured in Knicks win over Wizards

Mitchell Robinson was having a big first half on Friday night before suffering a broken right hand at the end of the second quarter of the Knicks’ 109-91 victory in Washington.

The team’s starting center will be re-evaluated on Saturday, back in New York, the team said.

Robinson had 10 points and 14 rebounds – the first double-double of his career before the break – before he looked like he injured his hand when trying to block a shot at the end of the second half.

The third year pivot started each of the Knicks’ first 27 games, averaging 8.4 points and 8.4 boards per game.

Veterans Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson would likely see an increase in playing time in the absence of Robinson.
