Mitchell joins the Durant team, Gobert joins the LeBron team for the All-Star Game

Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert will not be teammates on Sunday.

Mitchell will play for Team Durant and Gobert will play for Team LeBron in the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.

Utah Jazz will also be represented by Quin Snyder, who is coaching Team LeBron, led by LeBron James. The other captain of the team is Kevin Durant, who is injured and will not play the All-Star Game, but will remain as captain.

In a draft of the available All-Star players, James and Durant chose the two Jazz All-Stars as the remaining options, choosing all the other players on the board until only Mitchell and Gobert remained.

“There is no slander at Utah Jazz,” said James with a laugh. “When we grew up in video games, we never played Utah, even if Karl Malone and John Stockton were good, we never would have chosen these guys in video games, ever.

The LeBron team includes Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, Chris Paul, Jaylen Brown, Paul George and Domantas Sabonis.

The Durant team includes Kyrie Irving, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, Jayson Tatum, Bradley Beal, James Harden, Devin Booker, Zion Williamson, Zach LaVine, Julius Randle and Nikola Vucevic.

The All-Star Game, which is being held at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, will be on TNT at 6 pm MST, but coverage and action will begin earlier in the day.

Coverage will start on Sunday at 3 pm MST, with the real action starting at 4:30 am MST with the Skills Challenge, followed by the 3-point contest, which Mitchell will be part of. The Dunk Contest will serve as entertainment for the break.
