MISSOULA – Missoula County officials announced that eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine for Phase 1B + will begin on March 15.
The move will include appointments to Missoula County Department of Health (MCCHD) clinics that are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
Phase 1B + expands eligibility for people aged 60 and over, as well as those aged 16 to 59 with certain health conditions:
- Asthma (moderate to severe)
- Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain)
- Cystic fibrosis
- Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) due to blood or bone marrow transplantation, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids or use of other drugs to weaken the immune system
- Neurological conditions, such as dementia
- Liver disease
- Pulmonary fibrosis (with damaged or scarred lung tissue)
- Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
- Depending on the case, medical service providers may include individuals with other conditions that put them at high risk for COVID-19-related complications.
Missoula County now has three suppliers with public vaccine clinics.
MCCHD clinics are held at former Lucky’s Market on Southgate Mall, University of Montana Health Care Pharmacy clinics are at Adams Center and Partnership Health Center vaccinations are held at Missoula County Fairgrounds.
As of Monday, the clinics will be open to residents of Missoula County in Phase 1B +. Residents can find information about when appointments are available here or by calling 406-258-INFO daily between 8 am and 5 pm
At next week’s MCCHD clinics, approximately 500 appointments for the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine will be available on Monday, and approximately 300 appointments for the first dose of Moderna and 230 for the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine will be available on Tuesday.
Consultations will open online at 1pm on Thursday. The link to make an appointment will be available on the Vaccine Information page.
Those without Internet access for people who are not proficient online will have the possibility to call 406-258-INFO, option 3, to schedule a telephone consultation from 1pm on Thursday.
Organizers are asking people who have the ability to book online to make an appointment on the website instead of calling so that the call center can help those most in need of assistance.
