Mississippi making all residents eligible for the COVID vaccine

All Mississippi residents will be eligible for the coronavirus vaccine starting Tuesday. Governor Tate Reeves made the announcement on Monday.

“Starting tomorrow, ALL new appointments will be open to ALL Mississippi,” tweeted Reeves on Monday. “Get your shooting buddies – and let’s get back to normal!”

Vaccination in Mississippi is currently available to anyone aged 50 or over, staff at K-12 schools, first responders, health care professionals and those who are at least 16 years old and health conditions that can make them more vulnerable to the virus.

Reeves urged those aged 50 and over to make appointments on Monday, before eligibility extends to the entire state. People can be vaccinated at state drive-thru units in counties across the state, at private clinics and community health centers, and at some pharmacies, such as Walmart and Walgreens.
