Paramount Plus, a new brand and expansion of CBS All Access, is about to have a big chance before its launch on March 4. According to Variety, hit movies Mission: Impossible 7 and the time consuming A peaceful place, part II will be available for streaming on the platform 45 days after its theatrical release.

The announcement was made during the ViacomCBS investor’s day, which had the specific objective of publicizing the new streaming service. According to the trade, Paramount Plus also adjusted its pay TV production agreement with Epix to provide more than 2,500 films to subscribers in addition to the most recent releases.

Before the pandemic, a 90-day theatrical exhibition was the mandate for films before the studios could release them on home video. Now, everything has changed and the studios are changing this previous agreement. Warner Bros. was the first to cross the gate when he decided to launch his entire library of 2021 films on HBO Max on the same day of its release in theaters. Universal offers its films on premium video-on-demand platforms after 17 days in theaters. Therefore, the 45-day period offered by Paramount is, in Variety’s words, “downright generous.”

However, during the ViacomCBS investor’s day presentation, Paramount studio head Jim Gianopulos stated that the studio is still committed to theatrical releases, although it continues to look into a 30-day theater window for most of its films and 45 days for larger images like the one mentioned above Mission Impossible sequel and the next Top Gun: Maverick.

At the time, MI: 7 is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 19, while A peaceful place, part II will hit theaters on September 17.
