When the base salary cap was first announced, the Vikings were not in a good place to make many changes. Now, however, things have changed.
Minnesota launched tight end Kyle Rudolph, left tackle Riley Reiff, kicker Dan Bailey and cornerbacks Tae Hayes and Cordrea Tankersley. The Vikings also restructured themselves with bettor / holder Britton Colquitt. All of these moves helped the team to free up space on the edge.
Minnesota currently has just over $ 10.1 million in limit space for 2021, according to Over The Cap. From now on, Minnesota would have to spend a lot of that money on novice contracts for provisional choices, with little more to allocate to the free agency.
This means that Vikings are likely to have to make more moves to free up space. Defensive tackle Shamar Stephen and linebacker Anthony Barr are two players who can restructure. There is also the possibility that the two end up falling victim to the limit if restructuring is not an option.
