Minecraft Earth, the Pokémon Go-like spin-off of the block building franchise, will end on June 30, 2021.
Mojang made the announcement this afternoon and said that the new version of today’s game is the latest.
With the latest update, Mojang made several changes to make the game easier to play – and specifically easier to play at home.
As of today, all real money transactions have been disabled, ruby costs in premium currency have been reduced, manufacturing and casting time requirements have been reduced and all remaining completed content for the game has been added.
A new set of character creator items will also be awarded to anyone who logs in from now until the last day of the app.
After June 30, the application will no longer be able to play and the player data will be deleted.
People who have spent money in the game’s premium ruby currency will receive Minecoins, the currency used in the Minecraft main game Marketplace. Anyone who has spent money will also receive a free copy of the Minecraft Bedrock edition.
“We want to take a moment to thank all the players and creators who are bringing new adventures, mobs and free in-game items for the community to enjoy as we finalize our timeline for ending the game,” said Mojang.
“Your comments and creations have taken this game to a whole new level, from the regular building challenges you absolutely destroyed to the incredible buildings you shared on social media. We are forever grateful for the incredible talent of the Minecraft community. Easy decision, and we are doing everything we can to make sure you get the most out of Minecraft Earth before sunset. “
Minecraft Earth has been a considerable project for Mojang, and while it never reached the heights of Pokémon Go, it seems that its end came much faster than expected. Obviously, the world in which Minecraft Earth was created, beta tested and finally released in 2019 is no longer the one we find ourselves in now.
