According to a new report, senior officials discussed what they would do if the president declared martial law.
President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit after losing the 2020 presidential election and refuses to acknowledge defeat. A new report states that military leaders discussed their action plan if POTUS declared martial law in the last days of his term.

According Washington Post, national security and electoral law experts say Trump cannot declare martial law, but they are alarmed at the possibility.
“It is very dangerous to start playing”, Rachel Kleinfeld, a national security expert from Carnegie Endowment for International Peace told the Post. “You cannot normalize extrajudicial action outside the rule of law and believe that democracy will last. Democracies are fragile, even ours ”.
“If you have martial law,” continued Kleinfeld. “You have total suspension of the Constitution. So this is a coup, and a coup in this country is not going to happen ”.
Although experts do not believe that an unprecedented move is possible, a report says the military is still preparing for the unknown. According to a Newsweek exclusive story, the Pentagon is on red alert and senior officials discussed what they would do if the president decided to declare martial law. One officer anonymously detailed the nature of the planning.
“I have been associated with the military for more than 40 years and have never seen the discussions that are taking place now, the need for such discussions,” said the unnamed source.
Another officer expressed similar feelings for Newsweek.
“At this point, there is no way to say what the president can do next month,” said a former commander of the Northern Command (NORTHCOM), who, according to the vehicle, is actively advising senior officers. “Although I am confident that the uniformed military leadership has its head in the right place, the madness is unprecedented and the possibilities are endless.”
While still in office, Trump issued several dozen pardons. Like theGrio reported last week, POTUS issued 49 pardons and leniency to its allies. Among the pardoned include the former campaign president Paul Manafort, former national security advisor Michael Flynn and campaign advisor George Papadopoulos.
Although the Supreme Court rejected Trump’s attempts to overturn the election results in four states, he insisted that “it’s not over,” according to theGrio.
“It was not a tough election,” said Trump. “You look at Georgia. We won Georgia a lot. We won a grand prize in Pennsylvania. We won Wisconsin big. We gained a lot. “
