Julian Marquez’s victory at UFC 258 was not the wildest thing that happened to him on Saturday.
“The Cuban Missile Crisis” already had a lot to celebrate, returning from a long injury stoppage to mark his first victory since December 2017 and doing so dramatically. Facing Maki Pitolo, Marquez appeared to be down on the scoreboard after two difficult rounds, but he gave his all to finish in the third to secure an anaconda choke finish with only 43 seconds remaining for the fight.
Prior to his return, Marquez told the media that he was planning to leave to see a Miley Cyrus cover of classic Blondie Glass heart. His dedication to the pop star did not end there, as he ended his post-fight interview with a Valentine’s Day call to Cyrus.
“I’ve been 31 months to get this damn microphone and call these people now,” said Marquez. “This is my time to shine, so Miley Cyrus, will you be my girlfriend?”
For sure, the message reached Cyrus and she responded in kind via Twitter:
Shave the hair off your chest with an MC and I’m YOUR ❤️ Happy Day and Congratulations, my love!

“Shave an MC on your chest and I’m yours,” wrote Cyrus. “Happy VDay and congratulations my love!”
