Miley Cyrus gives tips on the new cover of NIN’s ‘Head Like a Hole’

Cyrus also hashtagged the post #AshleyOGoneWild, in reference to his character Ashley O, a fictional pop star at the end of Netflix’s fifth season of 2019 Black mirror. The episode featured Ashley playing “On a Roll”, a lighter and more upbeat version of “Head Like a Hole”. Rather than shouting phrases like the original “I’d rather die than give you control,” Ashley O’s cheerful and reinvented version says “Ridin ‘to high, achieving my goals.”

The Black mirror Face the classic success of NIN, with “On a Roll” debuting at No. 19 on the June 29, 2019 digital pop song chart. It was credited to artist Ashley O instead of Cyrus. Later, Netflix released a second cover of Ashley O – “Right Where It Belongs” from the 2005 album by Nine Inch Nails With teeth. Reznor – who previously approved of turning his dark music into pop songs for the show – tweeted about the new version of the time, “Looks like I’ve been here before …?” and added in a hashtag that he thought the song was “really really good”.

Cyrus did not say in his post whether this last cover is part of a new release linked to Black mirror, or an independent offer. (The singer said earlier that she is doing a Metallica cover album, but did not mention another cover album.)

Advertising panel contacted Cyrus representatives and Netflix for comment.

The artist – who released rock album Plastic hearts in late November – has been impressing with his rock covers recently. Impressively, she played The Cranberries ‘Zombie’ in 1993 in October, and Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ in April for Saturday Night Live.
