UFC welterweight Mike Perry is now a father.
On Wednesday morning, Perry announced the birth of his son, whose fiancée Latory Gonzalez has indicated his name is Ocean. Perry also thanked the staff at Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami for his work during a “scare” when his son “appeared and did not want to breathe for the first time”.

The happy news comes two days after Perry raised concerns about the photo of a broken window and his bloody leg after what appeared to be a drunken afternoon on a boat. Perry’s career was interrupted by the UFC last July after he allegedly assaulted three people, including an older man who was punched on tape. The promotion forced him to undergo alcohol treatment.
Perry returned to the Octagon last November after being released to compete and was defeated by Tim Means at UFC 255. Before the fight, he spoke of Gonzalez’s positive influence and was looking forward to becoming a father.
“I want to promote beautiful things to the world,” he said. “I’m sure our son is going to be a cute little devil, for sure. I look forward to seeing where life takes us and how we are going to have fun together. My girl seemed to grow a lot during the night. “
