miHoYo gives statement about data leakage

miHoYo will improve security soon.

Impact Genshin has been gaining a lot of popularity since its launch last year. The game will receive its next major update, Update 1.4 on March 17, and will add a new Rosaria character, new items, weapons and more.

Players are very excited about the next update, as well as updates beyond that, as miHoYo will be releasing an update every six weeks. In the midst of all this, there was a problem that bothered the players a lot. A large number of players have been the target of hacking attacks recently, and they have either lost access to their accounts or their accounts have been completely destroyed. This made the community very anxious, as many players are reluctant to even participate in official miHoYo events, thinking it could be a phishing link.

Genshin Impact Account Hacks: miHoYo makes a statement about data leakage, will improve security

The community has been asking for two-factor authentication for some time, but we haven’t received any updates from miHoYo about it. Now, miHoYo has finally released a statement about the ongoing hacks. Many believed that there was a data leak at the end of miHoYo, but that does not appear to be the case, according to his statement. Here is the translated version of the statement that was posted on the Genshin Group Thailand (courtesy of u / uijbg).

Thanks for contacting us, the developer is currently discussing how to increase the security system. From the information we have now, we have many layers of security and we have no sign of a leak. Most of the players who have been hacked and [sic] mainly for providing your information to the fake website. We hope that the traveler does not access the fake website. We will also increase account security, wait for new updates.

I don’t know, if anyone has seen this. I saw this from the official group in Thailand (they said they took it from the global group genshin) by GenshinHacked

What this increase in security is not implied, but it is speculated that 2FA would be the most logical option here. Considering the rate at which accounts are being hacked, we can expect that soon.

Impact Genshin is available for PC, PS4, PS5 and mobile.
