Shaun Weiss – who starred in the famous Mighty Ducks movie franchise in the 1990s – is celebrating a sober year after years of meth abuse.

The actor’s 42-year-old friend, Drew Gallagher, went on Instagram Wednesday morning to share a photo of the two having lunch together at TGI Fridays.

Shaun looked healthy as he smiled while looking at the camera while his friend pointed his thumb at him.

This came just a few months after Shaun had a new upper row of permanent teeth installed after several oral surgeries done to correct damage to his mouth from years of meth use.

In September, Drew shared an update on his condition on his GoFundMe page on Tuesday, along with a photo of Shaun looking better than in years, while he flashed a bright smile.

“Installed the permanent top,” wrote Gallagher. “Approaching a face full of teeth.”

In the photo, Weiss smiled from ear to ear with his new teeth, showing his healthy round face and a short trimmed beard.

At the time the photo was taken, Weiss had celebrated more than 230 days sober after years of abusing meth and other drugs.

The Mighty Ducks actor has been making steady improvements since seeking treatment for a meth addiction.

“You have already installed your permanent top,” wrote his friend Drew Gallagher on the page. “Approaching a face full of teeth.”

Throughout his recovery, friend and supporter Drew shared several updates on his condition and in August revealed that despite the long road ahead, Shaun was better than ever.

“Weiss is thriving,” he wrote. “His face and mouth look like ‘tender meat’ as he recovers from each oral surgery, but he is feeling blessed to have a new permanent dentition. ‘

The astronomical costs of dental work are being generously covered by your dentist, Dr. Gabe.

“Dr. Gabe covered all the costs and allowed Shaun to use the funds from the gofundme to pay the rent on his sober life, as well as buy groceries,” wrote Drew in an update over the summer.

Adding: ‘He even has a cheap laptop to be able to access the internet. There is still a long way to go, but growing every week! ‘

In September, the page raised more than $ 13,000 in donations to the suffering child star.

Drew also posted pictures of Shaun during the process, providing visual proof of his improvements, which went from being thin and sick to smiling and healthy.

When the donations page started, the biggest obstacle in his recovery was to seek adequate dental care, which fortunately worked.

“Dr. Gabe covered all the costs and allowed Shaun to use the gofundme funds to pay the rent on his sober lifestyle, as well as buy some groceries,” wrote Drew in an update over the summer

“Any dentist willing to help Weiss, that is our greatest need,” wrote Drew in June, describing his dire condition. “He has no teeth and it is an additional discomfort that I am trying to relieve.”

According to the American Dental Association, the use of methamphetamine can lead to severe dental cavities and cause teeth to break or fall out.

Although the drug is acidic and can erode tooth enamel, methamphetamine can also cause dry mouth attacks, which increase the likelihood of tooth decay, and the psychological effects of methamphetamine can cause users to stop brushing their teeth regularly or care of the teeth.

The actor, who played Goldberg in the Disney hockey-themed Mighty Ducks films, lived on the streets and devoted himself to crime.

In a photo of a January prison for robbery, Shaun looked shockingly thin and disheveled after years of using drugs.

Weiss finally got the help he desperately needed after being released from prison and ordered by a Yuba County, California, judge to complete a 90-day rehabilitation program after a week-long detox at a center in Orange County, California .

Sources at the time said the plan was for the Montvale, New Jersey native to complete an outpatient program and participate in a sober home program until he is released to stay in a sober home.

According to TMZ, executives with an unnamed television series helped coordinate Weiss’s visit to the expensive rehabilitation clinic. (A restart of Mighty Ducks is in production with Disney +.)

Weiss was taken into custody on January 26 in connection with residential theft and being under the influence of methamphetamine, and on $ 52,500 bail, according to a statement from the Marysville Police Department.

Police said a resident of Marysville, California, a community some 200 kilometers northwest of San Francisco, contacted them after discovering Weiss on his property.

Police said Weiss broke a window to get into the vehicle in which he was found hiding in the garage.

Weiss, who was arrested at the scene, “showed symptoms of being under the influence of methamphetamine,” police said. The actor told police he was breaking in and broke into the vehicle that was not his.

The actor has suffered from drugs and legal problems in recent years, as he was also arrested for involvement with public intoxication in August 2018 in Oroville, California. He was also arrested for theft in December 201.

Prior to that, in 2017, he was sentenced to 90 days in prison after being arrested for connection with possession of methamphetamine in Burbank, California.
