Miesha Tate’s ex accused of stealing her ATV

Former UFC champion Miesha Tate says her ex-boyfriend and ex-UFC fighter Bryan Caraway stole her ATV and planned a fraud scheme when she expressed her intention to withdraw it.

Caraway now faces four criminal charges, including attempted first-degree theft, fraud, filing a false insurance claim and misrepresenting a vehicle title, according to court records obtained by ESPN. The charges were filed in Benton County, Washington.

Tate, who retired from the UFC in 2016, was one of the most popular fighters in the sport as a female bantamweight champion. Caraway made his UFC debut in 2011 and the last fight on the circuit was in 2018.

What supposedly happened

According to the Benton County Insurance Commissioner’s Office, Tate told Caraway in December 2018 that she was taking back the ATV he allegedly stole from her. She did so on December 18, and Caraway purchased an ATV insurance policy on December 21, before filing a lawsuit three days after the vehicle was stolen, according to the documents.

Caraway told the insurer that he bought the ATV and accessories for $ 18,500 while he was dating Tate and provided a title showing the vehicle in his name, according to the report. Insurance investigators say Caraway forged the title and that Tate was the legitimate owner of the ATV.

Caraway later withdrew the insurance claim, according to the report. But his alleged actions up to that point led to the insurance investigation that led to the four criminal charges.

Benton County Insurance Commissioner Mike Kriedler placed Caraway on the commission’s most wanted list for insurance fraud after he failed to appear in court after being charged on January 12 this year, according to the report. He has since been removed from the list after contacting the prosecution and is scheduled to be prosecuted on March 11.
