Welcome to Midnight Mania!

According to an ESPN report, UFC bantamweight Irwin Rivera was arrested on Thursday in West Palm Beach, Florida, on two counts of attempted murder. More specifically, Rivera is accused of stabbing his two sisters.

According to the ESPN incident report, Boynton Beach police officers were called to a residence and found two women, aged between 22 and 33, with several knife wounds. Both women were alive and taken to the hospital. One of the sisters revealed that they were staying in one of Rivera’s spare rooms when the UFC veteran attacked them with a knife.

At 7 am on Thursday morning, the police found Rivera, who had fled the stabbing site. According to the report, Rivera said, “I killed my sisters.” He admitted that he entered his sisters’ room while they slept and stabbed them with a “bronze knife”. Rivera told police he believed stabbing / attempted murder was his purpose, attributed to him by a “higher power”.

The UFC released the following statement to MMAFighting:

“The UFC is aware of the recent incident involving Irwin Rivera and has subsequently received information from his management that he has shown behavior consistent with mental health problems,” says the statement. “The complaints are extremely worrying and the organization is collecting additional information. The investigation is ongoing and any possible next steps, including disciplinary action or medical attention, will be determined upon completion. In addition, the UFC informed Rivera’s management that he will not have a fight at this time. “

All three of Irwin’s fights in the UFC took place in 2020. He missed a short-term debut against Giga Chikadze before splitting two decisions for Ali AlQaisi and Andre Ewell.
