Microsoft today launched a new iPhone application that aims to improve meetings and personal conversations with a new approach to intelligent transcription. The Group Transcribe iOS app is now available and features features like highly accurate real-time transcription, translation, speaker assignment and more.
Identified by TechCrunch, the new application from the Microsoft Garage incubator team launched today. The company shared the news on the Microsoft Translator Blog.
While there are services like Otter that offer similar features, Microsoft Group Transcribe for iPhone is the only one where everyone in a meeting initiates a shared session so that everyone “takes advantage of the phone’s microphone to capture a highly accurate transcript, showing who said the in real time. “It also offers strong translation support at launch.
Equipped with cutting-edge speech and language technology and a unique multi-device audio input format, the project allows highly accurate speaker assignment so that conversation participants can see who said what in their preferred language.
Microsoft highlights the benefits here for those with accessibility needs:
Live transcription allows deaf, hard of hearing and non-native speakers to participate in full conversations, following in real time. Group transcription allows all participants to be more present and focused on meetings with the confidence of a high quality transcript.
Along with accurate live transcription, live translation works in 37 languages in 82 locations.
See how Microsoft describes the core feature of the Group Transcribe application:
