Now that Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax has received authorization from regulators, Xbox is gearing up to provide more details on what the deal means for Game Pass customers. Specifically, he will reveal in a video presentation on Thursday that several Bethesda games are going to the subscription service soon, according to sources who spoke VentureBeat.
It will also emphasize that any future and contractually eligible titles from the broader list of ZeniMax – which also includes the game studio and Arkane id – will be available on the Game Pass at launch. Together, the eye-watering line of the video game holding includes the iconic Bethesda series The Elder Scrolls and To fall, id’s Doom and Earthquake and Arkane Dishonored and Fanged.
What is currently unclear is whether Microsoft will resolve the issue of exclusivity. Xbox boss Phil Spencer said earlier Bloomberg that is honoring Bethesda’s deal with Sony to launch Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo as PlayStation 5 exclusives for a limited time. Meanwhile, the company also plans to launch Bethesda bonds as Starfield for Xbox, Windows PCs and Game Pass, while taking a “case by case” approach to releases on other consoles. Other highly anticipated Bethesda titles include The Elder Scrolls 6 and a new Indiana Jones games.
VentureBeat adds that negotiations between Xbox and Bethesda are underway, with plans to announce the presentation of the video in the coming days. The companies are also planning to host separate E3 showcases this summer, which will be held consecutively. By then, Microsoft should have sealed its acquisition of ZeniMax.
