Since 2019, Microsoft has offered one of the Surface Laptop 3 that you can configure with an AMD processor. And now it looks like the company plans to offer the same option to anyone who wants the 13.5-inch model. According to a spotted by , Microsoft will launch the Surface Laptop 4 in April and you will have AMD and Intel processor options in 13.5 and 15 inch sizes.
The company will offer “Surface Edition” variants of the Ryzen 5 4680U and Ryzen 7 4980U. This is an improvement over the 3580U and 3780U currently available with the Surface Laptop 3, but a step below AMD’s 5000 series chips. Meanwhile, anyone who wants an Intel processor can choose between Core i5 1145G7 and Core i7 1185G7. Both come from the latest from Intel. It also looks like the only way to set up the Surface Laptop 4 with 32 GB of RAM or 1 TB of internal storage is to buy one of Intel’s models, since the maximum with AMD variants is 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
In addition, it does not appear that the Surface Laptop will receive many other updates. According to the specification sheet WinFuture shared, both models will maintain their monitors with current resolution of 2256 x 1504 and 2496 x 1664 and will be shipped with the same combination of ports. Of course, this assuming WinFuture’s the information is accurate. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like we’ll have to wait long to see what Microsoft has up its sleeve.
