Microsoft Teams is down – The Verge

Microsoft Teams is currently down worldwide. Microsoft says it is trying to bring the service back online after “a recent change to an authentication system” brought down some Microsoft 365 services. “We are reversing the update to mitigate the impact,” says Microsoft 365 status account, but the rollback is “taking longer than expected”.

The problems started around 3:30 pm ET, and Microsoft quickly confirmed that they are affecting users around the world. This is the first major Microsoft Teams outage since the service crashed in September, along with other Microsoft 365 services, such as Office 365 and Outlook. Microsoft also attributed the previous outage to a configuration change.

Azure Active Directory also appears to be having problems as part of this outage, and Microsoft’s Xbox prepaid codes are also not working at the moment.

Microsoft now has 115 million people using its Microsoft Teams communication app every day. The service grew rapidly during the pandemic, as students and businesses began working online to work and learn remotely. As a result, a worldwide disruption like this will now affect millions of people trying to use Microsoft Teams to communicate with co-workers, teachers or fellow students.
