While millions of players are still struggling to find a retailer that has a Xbox Series X in stock, who already has the device in hand you may have noticed that your controllers are not staying connected to your consoles. Microsoft is now recognizing the problem and promises to fix it.
For many Xbox Series X users, controllers disconnecting console may appear random or sporadic. Inside other cases, it occurs while playing a specific game, that some (including our own review editor Alex Cranz) Tue assigned interference with your home wireless network.
However, for those who have already spent time browsing Microsoft support forums or topics like this in Reddit, it’s clear that the Xbox Series X’s problems with maintaining a connection to its controllers are not an isolated problem. Microsoft recognized the problem. On a statement provided to the border, a Microsoft spokesman said: “We are aware that some players may be experiencing disconnections with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers and our teams are actively working on a solution to be included in a future update.”
The challenge for Microsoft is that the issue of disconnecting console controllers happens in some ways. For some, the controller simply does not pair with the console, while for others, a controller may appear to be properly synchronized, although the console does not register any input or button presses. And in other cases, disconnected controllers appear to be a much more common problem when playing titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Alex Cranz said the This problem can be solved by removing the batteries from the controller and then reinserting them (essentially turning the device off and on again) Unfortunately, it is not clear what is causing the disconnections in the first place, and although Microsoft said investigating, there is currently no timetable for when a new patch or fix is available.
The only good news is that if you are a PC user who suffered from the disconnection of the Xbox series controller from a Windows computer via Bluetooth, Microsoft has already released a patch via Windows update therefore.
So for someone out there who was wondering why the Xbox Series X controller might have randomly disconnected from the console, at least you know it’s a real problem. HFortunately, Microsoft may discover a solution soon.
