Microsoft Edge history and tab sync features finally begin to be implemented

Microsoft is finally starting to release tab history and sync for its Edge browser. After almost a year since its initial launch, some Microsoft Edge users now see the complete web history and tab sync features available in their browsers. The deployment is gradual, but you can check if it is available in your country by browsing settings> profiles> synchronization and enabling “history” and “open tabs” in the options.

Not all countries have access to additional synchronization features yet, but we understand that the UK is one of the first markets to see the history and synchronization of tabs initially. These new features will allow Edge users to sync all the web pages they have visited with additional Windows 10 or macOS devices, or even the mobile versions of Edge for iOS and Android.

However, you will need to access the settings section on all devices with which you use Edge to manually enable history and open tab features. This includes mobile versions, where you will also have to switch between open tabs and history.

Microsoft initially launched Edge on January 15, 2020 without many important synchronization options enabled. Synchronization of extensions arrived in May, and Microsoft originally promised that syncing history and tabs would begin in the summer. Web history and tab synchronization started to be implemented on the browser’s beta and dev channels in late November and are now appearing on the stable channel.

Microsoft continues to improve Edge regularly, recently adding a really useful screen capture tool and a price comparison feature. Edge will also be updated soon with vertical tabs and new password violation notifications.
