Microsoft shares rose 4% in the extended trading session on Tuesday, after the company reported second-quarter fiscal gains that exceeded analysts’ expectations.

  • Earnings: $ 2.03 per share, adjusted, against $ 1.64 per share as expected by analysts, according to Refinitiv.
  • Recipe: $ 43.08 billion, against $ 40.18 billion as expected by analysts, according to Refinitiv.

Microsoft’s revenue grew 17% on an annualized basis, down from 12% growth in the previous quarter, according to a statement.

In the quarter, Microsoft launched $ 500 and $ 300 Series S Xbox Series X consoles, along with a small version of its Surface Laptop PC called Surface Laptop Go. The company also said that part of its source code was accessed later that the company detected malicious SolarWinds software in its environment.

Regarding the projections, analysts expect US $ 38.70 billion in tax revenue for the third quarter, which would represent an annualized growth of 10.5%.

Microsoft shares have risen about 5% since the beginning of 2021, while the S&P 500 index has risen about 3%.

Executives will discuss the results in a conference call with analysts starting at 5:30 pm Eastern Time.
