The Vivo X60 series was launched in China in December 2020 in the form of the X60 and X60 Pro. We also saw the X60 Pro Plus reach the domestic market in January, bringing appropriate flagship features to the line. All three phones delivered the Zeiss brand as part of Vivo’s new partnership with the veteran camera company, as well as Pixel Shift technology for enhanced color reproduction.

Now, the Chinese manufacturer has launched the X60 series outside of China, in the form of all three devices. So, what should you expect?

X60 and X60 Pro

The X60 and X60 Pro really make a big difference compared to the Chinese version. Both feature Snapdragon 870 SoCs instead of the new Exynos 1080 chipset seen on Chinese models. Vivo told reporters that it carried out research and tests in international markets and found that the Qualcomm chipset had “better performance” due to different network environments and user habits.

The Exynos chipset, however, has a smaller and more energy efficient design, newer CPU cores and the latest Arm Mali GPU. But the Snapdragon 870 is a moderate update compared to the Snapdragon 865 Plus seen last year, so you’re getting great performance anyway.

There is also a notable change between the Chinese and the global X60 Pro, since the global variant has only one camera with a zoom focus on a 13MP 2x telephoto lens. Meanwhile, the Chinese variant includes this camera, as well as an 8 MP 5x periscope camera. Presumably, this is a decision related to profit margins and it also helps to make the X60 Pro Plus stand out even more.

Otherwise, you can still expect from the global X60 and X60 Pro the same experience we saw with Chinese options. That means a curved 6.5-inch OLED panel (FHD + and 120 Hz) and 33W of wired charging. The X60 and X60 Pro also include a 48 MP main camera, a 13 MP 120 degree ultra-wide-angle camera and the aforementioned 2x telephoto sensor. A 32 MP camera in a central hole handles selfies.

Meanwhile, the standard X60 features the same specifications for the most part, but offers a flat panel as well as a slightly larger battery of 4,300mAh (against 4,200mAh). The Pro variant also has a slightly larger aperture for the main camera (f / 1.48 versus f / 1.79).

Perhaps the biggest difference between the two is that it looks like the standard X60 loses the micro-cardan system of the Pro model to the main 48MP camera. Therefore, you will want to dive into the Pro to get the smoothest video and the best low light photos. This is a pity, since the Chinese X60 also offered a micro-cardan configuration.

In search of a suitable flagship experience? That’s where the X60 Pro Plus comes in, featuring a Snapdragon 888 SoC in place of the Snapdragon 870 and charging with a 55 W cord for the 4,200 mAh battery. Vivo’s top-of-the-line model also has an impressive rear camera configuration, in theory, offering a 50 MP GN1 main camera with OIS, a 48 MP ultra-wide sniper with a micro-gimbal system and two snappers focused on zoom (8 MP 5x periscope, 32 MP 2x telephoto).

Our verdict: Review of Vivo X60 Pro Plus – A flagship for camera enthusiasts

The X60 Pro Plus still has a lot in common with its stable companions, namely the same 120 Hz OLED screen, a 32MP selfie camera, FunTouch OS in place of OriginOS only in China and a fingerprint sensor on the display. Vivo’s flagship also stands out for its vegan leather back, echoing names like the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
