Michigan Wolverines senior lateral foot injury Isaiah Livers ahead of the Big Ten basketball semifinal

Michigan veteran Isaiah Livers is indefinitely injured in his right foot, the school announced Saturday morning.

Livers underwent an MRI after the Wolverines’ 79-66 victory over Maryland in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten basketball tournament on Friday. He will wear a protective boot while starting rehabilitation.

Livers, a 6-foot-7 wing, started all 23 games for Michigan this season. He had an average of 13.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists and shot 43.1% in the 3-point range.

Livers struggled with injuries last season as a junior, but chose to return to Ann Arbor for his senior season. In the last two seasons, the Wolverines have been 33-9 with a totally healthy Livers and 6-6 when he was out or left an early game due to an injury. All 12 games without him took place last season.

With Livers playing just 15 minutes against Maryland, former Wake Forest player Chaundee Brown has seen an increasing role in the wing. Brown scored 10 points and hit two strokes of 3 on the bench. He averages 7.9 points and shoots 39.7% in the 3-point range.

Michigan, ranked 4th in this week’s AP vote and on the 1-seed line at the NCAA tournament, faces Ohio state in the Big Ten semifinals on Saturday. The Wolverines are 20-3.
