It looks like another member of the Baltimore Ravens team will join the Michigan program.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Matt Weiss, Ravens’ running back coach, will be the coach of Michigan’s defenders.

As a member of the Ravens team in 2016 and 17, Weiss helped with quarterbacks, and in 18 he helped with wideouts. For the past two seasons, Weiss has been the Baltimore running back coach. The Ravens led the league in races in 2019 and 2020.
Weiss was a graduate assistant to Jim Harbaugh at Stanford from 2005-08, so he is familiar with Jim and John Harbaugh. In addition, the Ravens ‘current offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, was a major catalyst behind the schemes that propelled the San Francisco 49ers’ attack to three consecutive spots in the NFC Championship Game, with Harbaugh as head coach. The wrinkles in Roman’s scheme being added to the Michigan manual can be beneficial.
Michigan previously announced that Jim Harbaugh would be the coach of the defenders in 2021, but with the coach of the linebackers Brian Jean-Mary taking a job in Tennessee, it paved the way for Michigan to add another member to his team, and it looks like they are choosing to add a QBs coach.
Weiss will be working with trio of quarterbacks Cade McNamara, Dan Villari and JJ McCarthy, and it is likely that Harbaugh will not be far from the QB room and will still be in contact with the unit.
Weiss, 37, represents yet another hiring in Michigan under 40, an intentional trend. Weiss is the second Baltimore assistant Michigan hired this year, with defense co-coordinator Mike MacDonald the first.
