Michigan teenager shot dead during a Russian roulette game, police said

A Michigan teenager shot himself during a Russian roulette game, police said in a statement this week.

The teenager died in October after he was found unanswered at a home in Burton, about four miles southeast of Flint.

“After interviews and collecting evidence, it was determined that some occupants of the house were playing Russian roulette. The victim suffered a single self-inflicted shot to the head,” Burton Police Department said in a Facebook post on Monday.

The police said they were providing an update on the case “due to the great public interest”.

The department did not release the teenager’s name. MLive.com reported that he was a 17 year old student at Bentley High School.

The school posted a statement on Facebook the day after the boy’s death on October 24.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing to share with you that we have lost one of our students,” wrote Superintendent Kristy Spann in a letter outlining ways for teenagers to cope with their grief.

“The benefit of Bentley is that we are a cohesive community and together, with compassion and patience, we can help each other through losses.”

Police officers found several items stolen during a house search and believe that some of the occupants committed robberies and burglaries in the area, police said. Some of the items found were returned to their owners, according to a police statement.

Detectives investigating the incident sent their findings to the Genesee County District Attorney’s office for review.

The prosecution did not immediately return a request for comment on Wednesday.
