Michigan State basketball game in Penn State postponed

The Michigan men’s basketball game in Penn State, scheduled for Saturday, has been delayed due to problems with COVID-19 under the Penn State program.

Penn State announced on Wednesday night that it had “paused all activities related to the team due to the positive results of COVID-19 among its Level 1 personnel”.

According to the NCAA, Level 1 individuals include student-athletes, coaches, coaches and physiotherapists, medical staff and equipment staff.

Lions of Nittany haven’t played since December 30th. They postponed Sunday’s game against Wisconsin, as well as Tuesday’s game against Ohio state due to COVID concerns. And now they have announced that their next two games – Michigan on Saturday and Rutgers on Tuesday – have been postponed.

Affected schools “will work with the Big Ten Conference to identify reprogramming options,” according to Penn State.

The Big Ten allowed for flexibility in announcing the league schedule. Michigan’s two “farewell” periods are between January 23 and January 29 and between February 22 and 26. Both correspond to Penn State’s farewell periods.

Michigan beat Penn State 62-58 on December 13 at home.

The Wolverines will host Minnesota on Wednesday night, with delivery scheduled for 8:37 pm ET. Michigan is scheduled to host Wisconsin on Tuesday.
