Michigan reports 7,341 new cases of COVID-19, 254 deaths over 3 days

(WXYZ) – Michigan reported 7,341 new cases of COVID-19 and 254 deaths in a three-day period, the state confirmed on Saturday.

The state Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus update on Saturday is a total of three days, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Officials say that over the three days – Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the average number of new confirmed cases is 2,447 per day.

In addition, the deaths announced on Saturday include 188 deaths identified during a review of vital records, according to the state.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached 477,269, while the total number of deaths reached 12,029 in the state. Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s ban on dining in indoor restaurants continues until January 15.

On December 23, an accumulated total of 318,389 people recovered from the virus in Michigan.
