Michigan opens COVID vaccine eligibility to 16+ on Monday: best consultation options

DETROIT – As of Monday, April 5, all Michigan residents aged 16 and over will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.

State guidelines will lift restrictions on making an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine on April 5, allowing all adults to receive one of three vaccines authorized by the FDA.

Michigan will also see an increase in vaccine shipments starting this week to help combat the current outbreak of COVID-19, which is among the worst in the U.S.

Options for finding a vaccine have been expanding across the state in the past week and will continue as the supply increases. Here are some of the best options for finding an appointment:

CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and Rite Aid are rapidly expanding appointments in Metro Detroit and Michigan. The best time to make appointments is early in the morning. (Professional tip: search by zip code)

Also, check with the pharmacies in your neighborhood. Many have vaccine supplies or waiting lists.

Local health departments have launched local clinics for residents, some in local communities and some at the county level – you can find a list of each health department here.

Care clinics are one of the best ways to get a vaccine. In Sterling Heights this week, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, ACCESS will host a Pfizer clinic open to anyone over the age of 16. More info here.
