Michigan football attracts two potential 4-star players in the 2022 class

Michigan took its recruiting momentum into the 2022 class.

After signing three defensive tackles in the 2021 class during Wednesday’s National Signing Day to end with a class of the top 10, the Wolverines secured appointments from two 2022 four-star prospects on Friday morning.

Safety athlete Taylor Groves of Cross Plains (Tenn.) East Robertson and Kody Jones of Germantown (Tenn.) Announced their promises on Twitter.

The 6 foot-2, 175 pound Groves is rated as the No. 242 and No. 16 safety prospect nationwide, while the 5 foot, 11 ½ inch, 180 pound is the No. 279 overall, by 247Sports’ Compound. Jones is expected to play high school at the university level.

The Tennessee duo becomes the first defensive in the 2022 class of Michigan – a primary need after signing just a safety and a cornerback in the 2021 class.

The Wolverines now have six promises in 2022, and Groves and Jones are second and third, respectively, behind the four-star Essexville Garber for defensive tackle Alex VanSumeren (No. 223 overall).
