Michigan coronavirus cases up to 612,628; Death toll now at 15,810

The number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Michigan rose to 612,628 on Tuesday, including 15,810 deaths, state officials reported.

Tuesday’s update includes a total of 2,048 new cases and 27 additional deaths, including six from a review of vital records. On Monday, the state recorded 610,580 cases in total and 15,783 deaths.

The test has been stable at around 35,000 diagnostic tests reported per day on average, with the 7-day positive rate above 5% on Monday. The state has reported a slight increase in hospitalizations in the past two weeks.

Michigan’s 7-day moving average for daily cases was 1,795 on Monday – an increase from the previous week. The average 7-day mortality rate was 15 on Monday. The state’s mortality rate is 2.6%. The state also reports “active cases”, which were listed at 38,100 on Monday – close to the lowest level since October. More than 556,000 have recovered in Michigan.

Michigan reported more than 3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered, starting on Monday.

According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 29.5 million cases have been reported in the USA., Over 535,000 deaths reported from the virus.

Worldwide, more than 120 million people were confirmed infected and more than 2.6 million died. More than 68 million recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University. The real numbers are certainly much higher, due to limited testing, the different ways in which nations count the dead and the deliberate underreporting of some governments.
