Michelle Obama tries to convince Jimmy Kimmel’s daughter to eat vegetables – deadline

Michelle Obama is bringing her healthy eating initiatives to Jimmy Kimmel Live.

In a clip promoting Obama’s appearance at night, the former first lady meets Jimmy Kimmel’s daughter Jane, who is reluctant to try vegetables. When Obama asks why she is hesitant to try vegetables, Jane responds.

“I really don’t like trying new things,” she tells the Becoming author.

Like Jane the Waffles + Mochi the executive producer says she didn’t like eating vegetables when she was little. After using his own experience to connect with Kimmel’s daughter, Obama gives some advice.

“I learned when you try something new, just try it out, that you open your taste buds and that you’re going to like a lot of new things,” she said. “Can I get you to try, just try, a vegetable?”

Kimmel brings a plate of carrots, but, despite Obama’s encouraging words, Jane refuses.

“No way, I can’t,” she said.

Prior to his appearance at Kimmel, Obama drew attention for his comments on the Meghan Markle-Prince Harry controversy. At NBC’s Today Show, Obama told Jenna Bush Hager that she was not surprised to hear Markle’s remarks about race and discrimination with the royal family.

“Race is not a new construction for people of color. So it was not a total surprise to hear your feelings, to have them articulated, ”she said.
