Michelle Branch said she recently had a miscarriage.
The 37-year-old singer-songwriter revealed the heartbreaking details on Instagram with her 136,000 followers.
“Just as we were reaching third place and coming home (a baseball metaphor ?! I know.) 2020 was like, ‘nah, I’m not done yet.’ December really decided to end us with a bang! No, literally. A bomb went off in downtown Nashville yesterday, ”Branch began his detailed posting on Saturday. “And to twist a dagger further in my heart, I experienced my first miscarriage …”
Despite her tragic loss, Branch noted that she and her family struggled to celebrate the holidays.
“But, unfortunately, between the crying and the compulsion to eat Christmas cookies, I decided to apply lipstick and a dress. We drink champagne all day. She had an amazing meal and sang Christmas songs by a fireplace, ”she wrote alongside photos that show that she spent time with her husband, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, as well as her sister Nicole and two children.
Counting the days until the new year, Branch said she was “hobbling to the finish line”.
However, she made a point of adding that her family helped her overcome the challenges that arose in 2020.
“These people, my precious family, my husband, sister and children have been MVPs,” wrote Branch. “I couldn’t imagine spending a year alone with anyone else. Merry Christmas to all. “
Branch is the mother of her 15-year-old daughter, Owen Isabelle Landau, whom she shares with ex-husband Teddy Landau.
In August 2018, the Grammy winner gave birth to her son Rhys James Carney with her husband.
Branch and his family live in Nashville, Tennessee, where a trailer exploded and injured three people on Friday.
