Michelle Branch shared that she suffered a pregnancy loss at Christmas.
On Instagram, the “All You Wanted” singer wrote a post about her difficult holiday season, which included the loss of what would be her third child and the second with her husband, the Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. The musician, who lives in Nashville, also remembers being in the city when a bomb exploded on December 25.
“Just when we were going around and going home (a baseball metaphor ?! I know.) 2020 was like, ‘nah, I’m not done yet. December really decided to end us with a bang! No, literally. A bomb exploded in downtown Nashville yesterday, “she wrote.” And to twist a dagger further into my heart, I experienced my first miscarriage (ugh! Mother – er!) “
Michelle shared that despite the challenging circumstances, she and her family still managed to find a way to celebrate.
She added: “But, unfortunately, between the crying and the binge of Christmas cookies, I decided to put on lipstick and a dress. We drank champagne all day. We had an amazing meal and sang Christmas songs snuggled up by a fireplace. 5 more days until 2021. ”
