EXCLUSIVE: We’ll be meeting a new character in the next 11th and final season of Living Dead. Michael James Shaw (Blood and Treasure) signed on as a new regular series in AMC’s zombie apocalypse hit series.
The studio is not revealing many details, other than Shaw playing the popular character known as Mercer.
Rumors about Shaw’s cast as Mercer were ruminating among Living Dead fans, but now it’s official. Mercer’s character has a strong and tough presence with his Mr. T-esque haircut and red armor, which is a reflection of the power he has in the ranks. He first appeared in Living Dead comics in issue 177 and is known for his experience in the United States Marine Corps, which easily made him the leader of the Commonwealth military. In the comics, he romantically engages with Juanita (also known as Princesa), who was introduced in the 10th season and is played by Paola Lázaro.
Howard University alumnus Shaw will be seen in the second season of the CBS series Blood and Treasure. In the film, he is known for his role as Marvel supervillain Corvus Glaive in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Additional credits from the Julliard-trained actor include Unlimited, Taurus, Constantine and Roots. He is represented by Atlas Artists and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
