Michael Brockers fires at JJ Watt

Los Angeles Rams striker Michael Brockers is confident that the team does not need the new Arizona Cardinals to pass striker JJ Watt. Brockers shot Watt on Saturday, telling TMZ “We all know who the real 9-9 is.”

That would be Rams striker Aaron Donald, who uses the same Watt number. While Brockers did not need to cast a shadow on Watt, Brockers is not wrong. Throughout his career, Donald has averaged 12.2 bags per season. He was elected to the Pro Bowl in each of his seven seasons and was part of the All-Pro team for six consecutive years. He has won three of the last four AP Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Watt was hardly negligent in his career. He has been part of the Pro Bowl and All-Pro team five times, and also has three AP Defensive Player of the Year awards – the most recent of which came in 2015. Although he is two years older, Watt has remained effective when in field. Injuries have been a problem, however, as Watt has played 16 games only twice in the past five seasons. Donald has only lost two games in his entire career.

Brockers also took some time to celebrate the acquisition of Matthew Stafford. Brockers called Stafford a “level up” over the team’s previous quarterback, the former No. 1 of all Jared Goff’s choices.

The move cost the Rams a little. The team gave up two choices in the first round and one choice in the third round for Stafford. Last season, Stafford shot for 4,084 yards and 26 touchdowns in 16 games. In comparison, Goff launched 3,952 yards and 20 touchdowns in 15 games.
