Michael Brantley leaves after being hit by a pitch

Michael Brantley was pulled from the Astros game in Oakland on Saturday with discomfort in his right wrist, probably due to a blow to the wrist during his first and only appearance in the game.

Brantley landed a fastball with his right hand while facing southpaw Cole Irvin in the first inning, but after taking a few moments to regroup while being examined by a team coach, he stayed and played defense at the bottom of that inning. But Brantley did not make his second attempt in the second frame, replaced by hitter Chas McCormick.

Brantley was one of the best hitters in the Astros for the start of the season. He has six strokes in nine strokes with two RBIs. On Friday, he hit 3 out of 5 with three doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in the Astros’ 9-5 victory over the A’s.
