Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade reacts to Sekou Smith’s tragic COVID-19 death

As the new coronavirus pandemic continues to rage across the country, it claimed the life of an NBA family member, Sekou Smith.

Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade took to social media to express his sadness over Smith’s passing.

Smith covered the NBA for many years as an NBA TV correspondent. He also created and hosted the “Hang Time Podcast” and was the creator and editor of the NBA.com Hang Time Blog.

To date, the pandemic has claimed the lives of well over 400,000 people in the United States and has had an effect on the NBA far beyond Smith’s death.

A considerable number of games this season have been delayed due to players testing positive for the new coronavirus or being placed on security protocols due to contract tracking.

Last year, Karl-Anthony Towns’ mother and six other members of his family died due to COVID-19. A few days ago, the Minnesota Timberwolves star tested positive for the virus.

The Heat currently has several players who are out due to the COVID-19 security protocols.
