Miami Beach imposes a curfew for crowds, chaos dominates spring break paradise

Miami Beach is repressing spring break, as unprecedented crowds invade the sunny paradise of beachside parties.

The city imposed a curfew at 8 pm and declared a state of emergency in its bustling entertainment district to combat growing chaos, according to reports.

“I think the volume is clearly higher than in previous years and this, I think, is partly due to the fact that there are very few places open in other parts of the country,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber told the Reuters.

The curfew will run for at least 72 hours, according to Miami Beach officials. Highways to and from the city will also close at night.

The crowds are so bad, “you couldn’t see the pavement and you couldn’t see the grass,” said the city’s interim manager, Raul Águila.

On Saturday, Aguila declared a state of emergency. He wants emergency measures in place until April 12, according to the Miami Herald.
