MF Doom died at 49.
Doom, who was born Daniel Dumiel, passed away on October 31. The cause of death was not revealed.
News of the British rapper’s death was shared via his social media accounts on Thursday (December 31). In a statement written by his wife, Jasmine, she expressed how much the influential rhyme meant to her family and praised the man he was before his death.
“The best husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ask for,” says the statement. “Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and dismiss. Thank you for showing me how not to have afraid to love and be the best person I could be My world will never be the same without you Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love you both and I adore you always EVERYONE continues to bless you, our family and the planet. “
The MF Doom team also made a statement: “With a heavy heart, we share these words from the MF DOOM family. It is our desire to continue to respect your privacy in this difficult time.”
The death of the masked rapper occurs three years after the death of his 14-year-old son, Malachi Ezekiel Dumile. MF Doom shared the tragic news via Facebook in 2017. The cause of death was not disclosed at the time.
Doom, who worked in a series of collaborative efforts with people like Madlib (Madvillainy), Danger Mouse (Danger of misfortune), Ghostface Killah (Doomstarks), Jneiro Jarel (JJ Doom), Bishop Nehru (NehruvianDoom) and Czarface (Czarface Meets Metal Face), was widely known for his “supervillain” stage persona. His characteristic mask could be compared to the Marvel Comics supervillain, Doctor Doom.
