Mexican authorities in search of three alleged perpetrators of police killings

Mexican authorities are looking for three alleged mentors to the murder of 13 police officers last week, which are believed to have been executed by members of the cartel.

Twenty-five other alleged members of the Familia Michoacana drug gang were detained in the case, according to the state prosecutor’s office in Mexico.

Eight state police officers and five prosecutors were slaughtered last Thursday in the ambush attack outside Mexico City.

The police were on their way to establish a checkpoint when they were shot.

Nearly 700 used bullet cartridges were found at the scene, prosecutors said.

Warrants were issued to the alleged perpetrators of the attack, who are still at large.

The authorities offered a reward of about $ 25,000 each for information leading to arrest.

A decade ago, the Familia Michoacana cartel moved from that state to Guerrero and the state of Mexico.

Last week’s violence was the deadliest against police in Mexico since October 2019, when 14 state officers were killed as a single sniper.
