Mets, Francisco Lindor Avoid Arbitration

The Mets and the newly acquired shortstop Francisco lindor avoided arbitration with a $ 22.3 million contract, for Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Lindor is a SportsMeter customer.

Lindor’s deal amounts to even higher than the $ 17.5 million to $ 21.5 million arbitration projection that the MLBTR made for him at the beginning of the off-season. The four-time All-Star was still in Cleveland, but with the team knowing it wouldn’t extend it before the free agency next winter, it decided last week to send it to the Mets on a mega-sponsorship.

Unlike Cleveland, the Mets seem well equipped to meet the demands of Lindor, 27 years old. Lindor estimates he will exceed the $ 300 million mark in his next contract, but that should not be an obstacle for new owner Steve Cohen. The Mets may have to act quickly, as Lindor said this week that he does not want to negotiate a contract during the season.
