Mets close to trade for the Indians Francisco Lindor, Carlos Carrasco

The first significant sign that this is a new era in Mets baseball has arrived.

The team is negotiating with the Indians to acquire shortstop Francisco Lindor and pitcher Carlos Carrasco, confirmed Joel Sherman of the Post.

Shortstops Andres Gimenez and Amed Rosario, along with field prospect Isaiah Greene and launch prospect Josh Wolf will head to Cleveland.

Lindor, 27, is in line to become a free agent after this season and it has always been believed that Cleveland would negotiate the superstar.

The four-time All-Star would be a significant update to the left side of the Mets’ inner court and would be the first major move of the Steve Cohen era.

Carrasco, 33, missed the end of the 2019 season while battling leukemia. He succeeded in the short 2020 season, posting an ERA of 2.91 and 82 eliminations in 68 entries in 12 matches and was the return player of the year.
