Mercedes-Benz made a 56-inch ‘Hyperscreen’ for its EQS electric car

AI adapts the cabin to your tastes.

No matter the cabs with multiple monitors in cars like the Porsche Taycan – Mercedes wants a giant monitor that practically dominates your view. The automaker unveiled a 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that will cover almost the entire cabin width of its luxury EV EQS. It’s not just about impressing – it features the instrument panel, infotainment and passenger display in a perfect design that removes unused elements (like the passenger’s view on a solo trip).

The panel uses anti-glare Gorilla Glass-covered OLED and automatically adjusts brightness thanks to a camera and light sensor – it shouldn’t distract you at night like some car screens. It should also respond, with an eight-core CPU (not specified) and 24 GB of RAM.

The Hyperscreen interface can be as important as the size. Mercedes is focusing heavily on the AI that comes along and suggests features when you need them. He will offer to call a contact if you speak to him regularly on the way home, automatically pick up the car based on your location and even remember your preferred type of massage based on outside temperatures.

Controls may be easier to use than in cars equipped with previous MBUX. Mercedes is looking for a “zero layer” interface where common tasks are available immediately – navigation is always in the center of the screen, for example.

The company is still shy about exactly when you can expect to see EQS beyond its vague target for 2021. However, the Hyperscreen teaser offers a clue as to what Mercedes planned. This will truly be an S-Class for the electric car era, including no-cost cabin technology.
