CONWAY, SC – The Coastal Carolina men’s tennis team will return to the Stevens Tennis Complex this week for a match against the regional opponent of the state of South Carolina on Tuesday, April 6, with a first service scheduled for 14:00 ET.
It will be Senior Day for Chanticleers, as Gonzalo Achondo, Pyry Hyrkkonen, Daiki Tanabe, Francesco Cori, and Juan Castellanos everyone will be honored before departure.
Fans will be allowed.
Health and safety protocols for care will remain in effect to include, but are not limited to:
- Facial coatings WILL be required.
- Always maintain physical and social distance.
- DO NOT meet between individuals or groups outside your affiliated party.
- NO interaction with student-athletes and coaches in no time.
Coastal Carolina University and the Athletics Department are committed to providing a safe environment for the enjoyment of our customers who participate in our intercollegiate sporting events. Individuals who violate health and safety protocols may be asked to leave.
Chanticleers clash with a 6-5 overall record. The Chants are coming out of a 5-2 defeat on the road against Wake Forest No. 14 on Sunday, April 4th.
Corners are driven by transfer Bastien Huon which is nationally ranked at No. 109 this week with an overall record of 8-3 at No. 1 singles, while the pair of doubles from Pyry Hyrkkonen and Diego giraldo also entered the week of the ITA tennis ranking, reaching 65th place this week. The duo is on a streak of three consecutive doubles wins.
The state of South Carolina enters the meeting with a 3-1 record in the year and comes from a 4-1 setback against Southern Georgia on March 23.
Coastal and South Carolina State have faced each other 15 times in men’s tennis. Chants have a small 8-7 lead against Bulldogs and enter a two-game winning streak against Bulldogs.
