Men’s basketball replaces South Carolina’s canceled game with William and Mary – The GW Hatchet

The men’s basketball match with South Carolina on December 3 was canceled due to concerns over COVID-19, according to a statement.

The Colonials (1-4) packed the game with William and Mary last Monday at 7 pm, according to a statement. The Colonials and the Tribe (0-1) were initially set to meet on December 5, but a positive COVID-19 test on the Tribe program forced them to be quarantined until Monday.

William and Mary returned from quarantine on Tuesday, but a trip to the Smith Center will be their first live basketball experience since their November 28 defeat to Old Dominion.

The GW filled its first scheduled meeting with William and Mary with a game against Coppin State. The team also needed to find a replacement game after a positive test of COVID-19 disrupted Towson’s program, which led to a confrontation with UMBC.

The dispute with the Gamecocks (1-2) was the return game of a series at home and at home, and GW was looking to avenge a 74-65 defeat last year. The statement said the game would not be rescheduled during the 2020-21 season.
