Melania and Donald Trump came down from their final trip with Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport minutes before their presidential term ended on Wednesday.
However, it was the ex-first lady’s clothing that caught the attention of fashion-obsessed social media users.
Instead of the all-black ensemble Melania wore when she boarded her flight from Washington, DC, which Vanity Fair said included a Chanel jacket, Dolce & Gabbana dress, Louboutin shoes and a Hermès Birkin bag, she stepped off the aircraft in a dress colorful. While some supporters praised Melania’s commitment to making a fashion statement, some Twitter users refused to see the price tags for what she wore before and after the flight.
Others were simply not fans of the hexagonal silk dress she wore while she and Trump left for her residence at the historic Mar-a-Lago Club.
“The 70s want their curtains back,” joked a Twitter user with Melania’s fashion choice.

“Did Melania get a job as a representative for the Florida Orange Growers Association?” they wrote.

A more severe online critic went on to say that “money doesn’t always mean class and style” and that the former first couple “will not be missed”.
Meanwhile, several Twitter users joked that they associated the former model’s wide dress and sunglasses with that of a Florida divorcee.

Some even shared that they thought Melania’s change of clothes symbolized her true feelings about leaving the White House.
Melania and Trump broke with tradition and did not attend the inauguration of Joe Biden, now 46th president of the United States.

By the time the couple landed in Palm Beach, Florida, the weather was around 74 degrees Fahrenheit. That temperature is 30 degrees higher than reported for Washington, DC on Wednesday morning.
