Meijer will administer COVID vaccines at its Michigan pharmacies

Meijer has been appointed pharmaceutical partner of the state of Michigan to help administer the COVID-19 vaccines.

Meijer has 120 pharmacies across the state of Michigan and more than 250 pharmacies in its six states.

“Our stores and pharmacies played a very important role in supporting their communities during this difficult time,” said Meijer President and CEO Rick Keyes in a press release on Wednesday. “We are proud to be chosen by the State of Michigan as a partner to help administer these essential vaccines and look forward to expanding our role in helping communities across the Midwest to defeat this pandemic.”

Meijer was chosen by the state to receive and directly administer COVID-19 vaccines under the Federal Retail Pharmacy Partnership Program.

Starting the week of January 18, Meijer pharmacies will administer the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in a limited number of stores in Wayne County, for patients aged 65 and over. The specific locations of the stores have not yet been determined.

As more doses become available, Meijer said he will expand the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine to include more stores across the state.

Those who wish to register for the vaccine simply need to send a text message COVID to the number 75049 and they will receive a link to register.
